iMessage is an iPhone messaging service that works on macOS, iOS, iPad, and iWatch. iMessage allows you to send text messages and is also fun to use as it has features such as sending images, documents, videos, and location data. Creating self-emojis and stickers is also a key feature in iMessage. It gives delivered and read statuses which promotes instant or active messaging.
iMessage works using an active internet connection so if the sender does not have access to the internet they can switch to the ” Send as SMS ” option in Messages settings. Likewise, if the receiver does not have access to the internet the sent message will be stored and delivered once the internet connection is restored. The noticeable difference between SMS and iMessage is SMS has a green send button on the right whereas iMessage has
iMessage uses the internet to send messages, so what if the other person does not have access to the internet? Can they turn off the iMessage and send a normal text message?
Unfortunately, you cannot turn off the iMessage for one person and communicate with others using iMessage.
The solution in such a situation is easy.
1. Ask The Person To Turn Off Their iMessage From iPhone Settings.
If the person you are trying to send an iMessage does not have any access to the internet then the setting changes need to be done by them and not by you to receive a normal text message, but keep in mind turning off iMessage will turn it off for everyone and not just one person. To switch from iMessage to normal text messages they need to follow a few simple steps below.
Step 1 – Go to iPhone Settings
Step 2 – Scroll down to Messages

Step 3 – Turn the iMessage off

2. Deregister Your iMessage
If you are not an iPhone user or if you have shifted from iOS to Android then you will have to deregister from iMessage to start using normal text messages.
- Login is not required for deregistering
- You will receive a code on the number you want to deregister which means someone else can also deregister on your behalf.

Though you cannot turn off iMessage for one person you can try the above methods to get your job done. Alternatively, you can simply use text messages instead of iMessage to communicate.
